Join us and sign the #IncludeDesign petition asking the government to include the arts and design in the proposed EBacc (which will be replacing GCSEs). We've added our support to #IncludeDesign and added their campaign to our Campaigns page. In November 2011 we promoted the BDA campaign to ensure that all teachers have compulsory Dyslexia/SpLD training as part of their Initial Teacher Training (see earlier blog entry).
This campaign closed on 31st October 2012. As the petition raised more than 10,000 signatures, the government responded to it. This response has been posted on the BDA website. Suffice to say, Dig-iT is disappointed with this response and will be writing to our MP on this matter. Thanks to all who signed the petition. On Friday 23rd November, Julie and Chris from Dig-iT attended a FREE literacy awareness course at Stonydelph ARCH. It was organised by the Adult Community Learning to bring awareness and guidance to community workers and volunteers to help them support residents who may have literacy issues. Julie said that it was fantastic and urges all public service front-line staff to attend such a course. For information, contact Stonydelph ARCH on 01827 709380. |
