A Dig-iT led story-telling and story-making initiative called SPLAT! comes to Tamworth on Saturday 15th July to coincide with Tamworth Library’s launch of their Summer Reading Challenge.

Starting at 10:30 in the morning with workshops and talks in St Editha’s Community Hall and Tamworth Library, the event will bring some fun into the idea that stories aren’t just about words, but pictures, films, spoken word, animation and much more.

The day long event will have professionally led workshops on comic book illustration, animation, children’s books, spoken word, video-making and much more. There will also be talks on being an author and film-making.

Details for all activities and any bookings can be found here.

In addition, at St Editha’s Community Hall there will be a Book Fair selling audio books, graphic novels and comic books as well as other stalls and of course, tea, coffee and cakes on sale!

Finally, in partnership with Tamworth Arts & Events and Community Together CIC, in the Castle Grounds there will be an interactive storyteller in the Bandstand and craft activities in the Community Hub.

Visit the SPLAT! website for full details.

Positively Puppets Flyer

We have some excellent news!

We've been awarded a small arts grant from Tamworth Borough Council towards running a 'Positively Puppets Course' for children aged 7 to 12 years who have dyslexia and / or overlapping traits!

The course will start on:
Saturday 20th February, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm at Amington Band Room, Sharpe Street, Amington, Tamworth, B77 3HY.

The course will run for 5 sessions, on each Saturday afternoon from 20th Feb.  There is a small charge of £10 per child for the whole course (to help cover additional costs), payable on the first day.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.

To book your place, please email giving details of your child (name, date of birth, contact number etc), or call us on: 0753 451 3338. Alternatively, please use the Contact Us page.

Please see the attached flyer for more details! If you click on it, you can download a copy.

We are really looking forward to working with Ultra Vibrancy Puppets again for this project. Some of you may remember they took part in our Positively Different Variety Show at Wilnecote High School in November 2014.  Their glow-in-the-dark show was absolutely fantastic, and it's great that children will now have an opportunity to experience some of the same 'magic' through this course.

We look forward very much to hearing from you.

We’re really pleased and excited to be supporting our friends Tamworth LitFest at a Festive Story Fun day on Saturday 12th December 2015.

The event, which takes place at St Editha’s Church, Tamworth town centre, promises to be lots of fun for all the family, with children’s authors and illustrators on hand giving story-telling workshops and book-readings.

Local comic book shop Comictopia will be running a ‘create a festive super-hero’ session and in-between all the author sessions, kids can get creative with card-making and other craft activities.

And, of course, the day is free to attend. Amazing!

Full event details here. Click on the picture to download the flyer.
