On 15th February, a handful of Dig-iT volunteers attended the screening of the Leamington Spa Film Festival 2020 winner “I Am Dyslexic” at the Royal Spa Centre, Leamington.

News of the award was published in the Stratford-Upon Avon Herald newspaper in January and in the Leamington Observer a few weeks later.

As you may be aware, Dig-iT has been an avid supporter of the film and its creator Thom J Davies since 2015 and so we were really happy to go along to congratulate Thom at this celebratory screening of the film at the Royal Spa Centre’s 188 seat Studio Cinema.

The event was well-attended and following the screening, there was a questions & answers session with the film-maker and a few of the cast, plus Becki our lead adult volunteer.

Fantastic 'I Am Dyslexic: The Movie' Launches

Talented, independent film-maker Thom J Davies - in collaboration with Dig-iT - launched his new film 'I Am Dyslexic: The Movie' during Dyslexia Awareness Week 2018.

The film was presented by Thom on 1st October to local students from years 9 to 13, kindly hosted by Tamworth Sixth Form Centre.

Dig-iT has been involved in the project almost from the start and we're really thrilled that it has now been released.

The film - which is both informative and very entertaining - shows what people with dyslexia can achieve through their strengths and skills, rather than focusing on their challenges (though it does highlight the funnier side of living with dyslexia!).

Anybody with dyslexia will recognise many aspects of the film and hopefully, will be proud to say 'I am Dyslexic'.

Here's the official preview of the film.

The full film can be viewed on

Dyslexia Documentary Maker Meets Dig-iT

11/4/2015

At the end of last year, Dig-iT came across a Kickstarter project called I Am Dyslexic which was trying to raise the necessary funds to produce a documentary about the experiences of being dyslexic.

So impressed was Dig-iT by the ideals of the film-maker Thom J Davies that we committed a small amount of money to the project.

The documentary will be a humorous, upbeat, positive take on living a dyslexic life starring people with dyslexia.

Last month, Dig-iT met up with Thom so that we could find out more about the film and how we could get involved. The feature length documentary aims to inspire and entertain in equal measure and Thom wants people with dyslexia to take an active part in it, so Dig-iT invites all local dyslexics to get in touch with Thom and make this film as exciting and fun as it can be.

One simple way you can do this (so long as you are dyslexic) is to take a selfie while holding up a sign saying "I Am Dyslexic" along with your name and send it to Thom via Facebook or Twitter. These will all be collated and appear in the film. Pretty cool!

For more information, please contact Thom using Facebook and Twitter. And we'd love it if you say that you got in touch through Dig-iT.

For a flavour of what Thom has in mind for the film, have a look at his video that he did for the Kickstarter project.
